Communities in Cebu and Davao gathered to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of Ethereum blockchain. Organized by ETH Philippines, the back-to-back events brought together builders, developers, and tech advocates from across the southern Philippines to honor a decade of decentralized innovation.
Local Celebrations
In sync with the global countdown, community members in Cebu convened for an evening of networking, snacks, and board games, while tuning into the official Ethereum 10th Anniversary livestream featuring co-founder Vitalik Buterin and other key contributors.
Beyond the livestream, attendees shared personal stories from the past decade and discussed future visions for Ethereum’s role in the local and global tech ecosystem.
According to ETHPH core member Cristin Erispe, the Cebu community celebrated with pizza, board games, and community bonding. Winners of the games also walked away with 1 ETH, in Sepolia testnet tokens.
Meanwhile in Davao, ETHPH Mindanao hosted a meetup focused on community building and reimagining the future of web3 in the region. Ethereum Philippines described the event as “warm, curious, and full of hope… You could feel the shared belief: Ethereum is far more than tech.”
Erispe shared that the Davao community marked Ethereum’s 10th birthday with a celebration, complete with cake, and brought together developers, mentors, and community leaders for the occasion.
“Across both cities, there was a sense of quiet gratitude— For the tools Ethereum gave us. For the questions it allowed us to ask. And for the people it brought into our lives.”

Consequently, Erispe noted that both the Cebu and Davao communities have been deeply engaged in the technical side of Ethereum.
Many members are currently participating in hackathons such as Infinite Hack and the Lisk SEA Buildathon. She noted that the participants range from first-time smart contract learners to experienced developers shipping advanced projects, as well as mentors reconnecting with decentralized technologies with a fresh sense of purpose. This diversity of perspectives, she added, keeps the community energized and focused on building.

Looking Forward
According to Erispe, Ethereum Philippines is focused on long-term upskilling, particularly in Mindanao and the Visayas, through programs like Speedrun Ethereum and Infinite Hack.
She noted that these are not just entry-level initiatives but are designed as structured, ongoing efforts to develop high-context developers, “who can build with depth and teach the others.”
At the same time, ETHPH is working to strengthen its grassroots presence.

We have the material for builders who deeply understand the pulse of the consumers and communities, engineers who know how to operate in low-trust and low-tech environments, and a perspective that brings real value to the global ecosystem. We’re not just participating. We’re here to shape.”
